“My Heart, Your Heart” Health Forum conducted by the Philippine Heart Association (PHA) in Partnership with Allianz PNB Life Insurance

It’s the love month once again dear loved ones, but this isn’t just about giving your special someone flowers and chocolates. February is also the heart awareness month. This is literally a time for “usapang puso”.

In line with the celebration of heart month, “My Heart, Your Heart” A health forum conducted by the Philippine Heart Association (PHA) with the cooperation of Philippine College of Physicians (PCP) aim to promote on how we should take good care of our heart, and to educate every Filipino on what to do to keep our heart in good shape.

The event held at Annabel’s Restaurant in Tomas Morato, Quezon City.

Topics were discussed by the following Speaker-Panelists:



PHA FACES Caravan 
by Dr. Nannette R. Rey, President, PHA
  • Fit Heart Minute – quickie pocket exercises throughout the day and workout with a resistance band can burn unwanted pounds. You can do it anytime, anywhere.

  • ABCDE Screenings for Doctors – Doctors are humans too.  They need to know their numbers.  They have to walk the talk (Cardiologists are already outnumbered to serve millions of Filipino in the country).
  • CPR Ready Ph. 21 / CPR on Wheels & Wings - 25 CWW destinations, 3 Nationwide Mass CPR Trainings from 2016 to 2018 translate to 160,000 CPR-trainees people from all walks of life.  Know how to respond to an emergency. Know how to recognize a heart attack and sudden cardiac arrest (procedure in doing Hands Only CPR).
  • Education on Healthy Lifestyle-52100 - (5 servings of fruits and vegetables, not more than 2 hours of screentime/not more than 2 grams of added salt; 1 hour of physical activity, 0 sugared beverages and 0 smoking.  Prevention is better than a pound of cure (the Do's and Dont's).
  • Sneakers Friday - Wear sneakers/rubber shoes to walk more, ride less.  Start the habit on a Friday and do it more often (an individual should have at least 10,000 steps a day).

The talks provide very informative and timely discussion on heart issues. As an individual everyone should have the knowledge to survive on such situation.
